I love helping people. I am a very loving, compassionate, dependable, and understanding person. I am great listener and I always put people feelings before my own. I find myself always trying to help people solve their problems. I have seen so many people life fall off of track because they lack resources. I believe everyone should be treated equally. I choose social work to help people, who need help in helping themselves. I choose social work because I'm tired of seeing children dropout of school because they lack a supportive environment and they can't get help with their homework. I choose social worker to provide support to families in need.
Wayne State School of Social Work mission is to "transmit, develop, critically examine, and apply knowledge to advance social work practice and social welfare policy in order to promote social, cultural and economic justice for the betterment of poor, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families, groups, communities, organizations, and society" (http://socialwork.wayne.edu/about/mission.php). This mission explains how I will be a competent social worker. The knowledge I will gain from Wayne State will enable me to carry out my duties as a social worker and prepare me for the challenges, I may face in my journey in social work.
